WEF Probes CEO + President Børge Brende To Epstein Files
The World Economic Forum (WEF) has launched an independent investigation into its president and CEO, Børge Brende, following revelations of his interactions with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The probe was triggered by newly released documents from the U.S. Department of Justice over the weekend, which detailed Brende’s connections to Epstein.
Brende, a former Norwegian foreign minister who has led the Geneva-based organization since 2017, was mentioned dozens of times in the files. The WEF confirmed that its Governing Board directed the Audit and Risk Committee to initiate the review to clarify the nature and extent of these ties.The disclosed interactions include three business dinners that Brende attended with Epstein in 2018 and 2019, along with subsequent email and text message communications. Court documents referenced arrangements for meetings at Epstein’s New York home, highlighting repeated contact after Epstein’s 2008 conviction.

Brende has stated he was unaware of Epstein’s criminal activities at the time of these encounters, framing them as professional networking opportunities common in elite financial and political circles.In response, the WEF emphasized its commitment to transparency and integrity, noting that Brende himself requested the independent review and is fully cooperating. He will continue in his role as CEO during the investigation but will have no involvement in the review process.
