The Illuminati refers primarily to the Bavarian Illuminati, a real secret society founded on May 1, 1776, by Adam Weishaupt, a professor of canon law at the University of Ingolstadt in Bavaria, Germany, during the Enlightenment era.
Aimed at promoting rational thought, opposing superstition, religious influence in public life, and abuses of state power by monarchs, the group recruited intellectuals, Freemasons, and nobles, using pseudonyms, ciphers, and a hierarchical structure to advance ideas of reason and secularism. However, it faced opposition from conservative and religious critics, leading to its banning by the Bavarian government in 1785, after which it disbanded with no historical evidence of continued existence.

Owned and operated by the all-male Bohemian Club—founded in San Francisco in 1872 by journalists, artists, and performers—it has hosted an annual mid-July encampment since 1878, drawing elite members and guests from politics, business, media, and the arts.
The retreat features elaborate theatrical performances, lakeside talks, and rituals like the “Cremation of Care,” where an effigy is burned before a large concrete owl statue to symbolically banish worldly worries. Past attendees have included U.S. presidents such as Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, and George H.W. Bush, along with influential figures like Henry Kissinger celebrities from Hollywood, and business tycoons.
While officially a place for networking, relaxation, and “weaving spiders come not here” (discouraging business talk), its exclusivity, armed security, and mysterious ceremonies have fueled widespread conspiracy theories about occult practices, global plotting, and hidden power deals, though many observers describe it more as an immature, frat-like escape for the ultra-wealthy.

The Epstein Files Transparency Act was passed by Congress in November 2025 following bipartisan pressure for full disclosure after the Department of Justice announced in July 2025 that no further charges would be pursued in the Jeffrey Epstein case and declined to release more information. President Donald Trump signed the bill into law on November 19, 2025, requiring the DOJ to publicly release all unclassified Epstein-related records within 30 days. Due to the enormous volume of materials and the need to redact sensitive victim information, the DOJ missed the December 19 deadline and instead conducted rolling releases, starting with a small batch in December, followed by over 11,000 files (nearly 30,000 pages) on December 23, 2025, and the largest drop of more than 3 million pages, 180,000 images, and 2,000 videos on January 30, 2026.

Early followers often viewed Q as a high-level government insider—possibly a military intelligence officer with “Q clearance”—or even a team of patriots close to General Michael Flynn.
