Meta Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg Buys Home In Florida’s Billionaire Bunker

Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, has reportedly purchased a lavish waterfront mansion on Indian Creek Island in Miami, Florida—often dubbed the “Billionaire Bunker”—marking a significant shift from his long-time primary residence in California.

Sources indicate that Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, plan to move into the newly built property by April 2026, suggesting this is more than a vacation home amid his existing real estate holdings in Palo Alto, Lake Tahoe, and a massive compound on Kauai, Hawaii.

This relocation places him in an ultra-exclusive enclave already home to other high-profile figures like Jeff Bezos, Tom Brady, and Google co-founder Larry Page, who have also invested heavily in South Florida properties in recent years. The primary motivation behind Zuckerberg’s move appears to be California’s proposed one-time 5% wealth tax on individuals with net worth exceeding $1 billion, a measure that has sparked concerns among the ultra-wealthy and contributed to an ongoing exodus of billionaires from the state. Although the initiative has not yet qualified for the ballot, the threat alone has prompted many tech moguls and executives to seek more tax-friendly jurisdictions like Florida, which imposes no state income tax. This pattern aligns with broader trends of high-net-worth individuals fleeing high-tax, high-regulation environments in blue states for places offering financial advantages, lifestyle perks, and proximity to growing business hubs in the Southeast.
