Authorities in Scotland have detained two individuals tied to an act of vandalism at President Donald Trump’s Turnberry golf course in South Ayrshire. The incident occurred on March 8, and included damage to the golf course greens and a spray-paint assault on the clubhouse. The vandals, reportedly responding to President Trump’s recent comments concerning the Gaza Strip, defaced various parts of the property, with messages such as “Gaza Is Not For Sale,” “F*ck Trump,” and “Free Gaza.” The initial investigation in Oban, Argyll, and Bute led Police Scotland to a 75-year-old man and a 66-year-old woman who were associated with the vandalism and subsequently arrested.

This act of vandalism is not an isolated incident, as earlier in March a 33-year-old man was also taken into custody pertaining to the same case. After preliminary questioning, all individuals involved were released, with the investigation still ongoing. Although authorities have not divulged any further information about the motives behind the act or any other suspected individuals, the incident has galvanized police efforts, who have appealed for further information from the public. Recognized globally for hosting prominent golf events, the Trump Turnberry Resort covers 800 acres of land and the recent incident has affected its operations significantly.
