Mom Steals Kids’ Christmas Cash: “I’m using my kids Christmas money for expenses”

A woman is grappling with whether to use her children’s gift money to alleviate her financial strain following the Christmas season.

“I do feel really guilty… I don’t have a choice really,” she confessed.

She usually deposits the money into her account before transferring it into her children’s savings. However, she’s now contemplating keeping the funds for a few weeks to make ends meet until her next paycheck.

“Not the first” “Should I? Or is this just horrible?” she pondered.

Her other option is to use a credit card, which she is hesitant about.

“I’m not great with credit cards,” she admitted.

She turned to a parenting forum to discuss her financial woes and the dilemma she faces.

Many forum members were supportive of her plan, as long as she set a firm deadline to repay the money.

“Give yourself a hard deadline for repayment and don’t let it slide – otherwise it’ll always be ‘oh, I’ll do it next month’ and you’ll have stolen their money,” one parent advised.

“Go for it. I’m sure they’ll benefit from it anyway,” another suggested.

A third commenter noted, “You’re not the first and definitely won’t be the last.”

“They won’t get the money back” Yet, others expressed concerns and criticized the idea.

“What if they wanted to use it in January? You’d have to tell them what you’d done then,” one user pointed out.

“They won’t get the money back if you do this. There will always be another reason,” another cautioned.

The woman admitted that she had never considered borrowing from her children’s funds before, but the current economic situation has left her with little choice.

Despite her considerations, she’s leaning toward using a credit card but is apprehensive.

“I just don’t really like using them as it’s so easy to spend large amounts once you start,” she explained.

“When I’ve got $200 in my account that’s it, but with the credit card I could potentially spend hundreds!”
