The Soviet Art Of Brainwashing: Psychopolitics (Psy Ops)

BrainWashing: A Synthesis of the Russian Textbook on Psychopolitics is a Red Scare, black propaganda book, published by the Church of Scientology in 1955 about brainwashing.

L. Ron Hubbard authored the book and alleged it was the secret manual written by Lavrentiy Beria, the Soviet secret police chief, in 1936.

PSYCHOPOLITICS – the art and
science of asserting and maintain-
ing dominion over the thoughts and
loyalties of individuals, officers,
bureaus, and masses, and the ef-
fecting of the conquest of enemy
nations through “mental healing.”

EDITORIAL NOTE By Kenneth Goff

From May 2, 1936, to October 10, 1939, I was a dues-paying member of the Communist Party, operating under my own name, Kenneth Goff, and also the alias John Keats. In 1939, I voluntarily appeared before the Un-American Activities Committee in Washington, D.C., which was chairmanned at that time by Martin Dies, and my testimony can be found in Volume 9 of that year’s Congressional Report.

During the period that I was a member of the Communist Party, I attended their school which was located at 113 E. Wells St., Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and operated under the name Eugene Debs Labor School. Here we were trained in all phases of warfare, both psychological and physical, for the destruction of the Capitalistic society and Christian civilization. In one portion of our studies we went thoroughly into the matter of psychopolitics. This was the art of capturing the minds of a nation through brainwashing and fake mental health — the subjecting of whole nations of people to the rule of the Kremlin by capturing their minds. We were taught that the degradation of the populace is less inhuman than their destruction by bombs, for to an animal lives only once, any life is sweeter than death. The end of a war is the control of a conquered people. If a people can be conquered in the absence of war, the end of war will have been achieved without the destructions of war.

During the past few years, I have noted with horror the increase of psychopolitical warfare upon the American public. First, in the brainwashing of our boys in Korea, and then in the well financed drive of mental health propaganda by left-wing pressure groups, wherein many of our states have passed Bills which can well be used by the enemies of America to subject to torture and imprisonment, those who preach the gospel of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, and who oppose the menace of Communism. A clear example of this can be seen in the Lucille Miller case. In this warfare the Communists have definitely stated: “You must recruit every agency of the nation marked for slaughter into a foaming hatred of religious healing.”

Another example of the warfare that is being waged can be seen in the attempt to establish a mental Siberia in Alaska, which wa called for in the Alaskan Mental Health Bill. A careful study of this Bill will make you see at once that the land set aside under the allotment could not be for that small territory, and the Bill within itself establishes such authority that it could be turned into a prison camp under the guise of mental health for everyone who raises their voice against Communism and the hidden government operating in our own nation.

This book was used in underground schools, and contains the address of Beria to the American students in the Lenin University prior to 1936. The text in the book in general is from the Communist Manual of Instructions of Psychopolitical Warfare, and was used in America for the training of Communist cadre. The only revision in this book is the summary, which was added by the Communists after the atomic bomb came into being. In its contents you can see the diabolical plot of the enemies of Christ and America, as they seek to conquer our nation by subjecting the minds of our people to their will by various sinister means.

This manual of the Communist Party should be in the hands of every loyal American, that they may be alerted to the fact that it is not always by armies and guns that a nation is conquered.

An Address by Lavrent Pavlovich Beria

American students at the Lenin University, I welcome your attendance at these classes on Psychopolitics.

Psychopolitics is a lesser-known but vital aspect of geopolitics. It deals exclusively with the elite echelons of “mental healing,” requiring highly educated individuals to understand and implement its principles. Our primary aim in psychopolitics is to sow maximum chaos within the enemy’s culture. Chaos, distrust, economic downturns, and scientific turmoil are the fertile grounds from which our fruits of control and dominance grow. Only in the chaos we create can a populace weary of strife seek solace in the stability of our Communist State, where Communism appears as the only solution to their multifaceted problems.

The psychopolitician’s role is to dominate the field of “mental healing,” ensuring that all practitioners and facilities are aligned with Communist ideology. This involves discrediting alternative forms of mental health practices prevalent in America, such as those inspired by James, Eddy, or Pentecostal faith healers. By defaming these homegrown methods, we aim to replace them with Communist-oriented approaches, thereby ensuring that psychology and psychiatry become tools for indoctrination. Every psychologist must teach Communist doctrine under the guise of psychology, and every psychiatrist must either be a psychopolitician or unknowingly assist our objectives. We must infiltrate these fields until we control not only the minds but also the bodies of every significant figure in the nation, rendering the concept of insanity so disreputable that no one would trust any statement labeled as such.

Our methods include using the existing infrastructure of mental health institutions to control or eliminate opposition. These institutions can hold individuals without rights, subjecting them to shock treatments or surgeries that can permanently alter their mental state. We must normalize these practices while suppressing any effective alternative treatments. By controlling psychiatry and psychology, we can manipulate public perception, ensuring that foreign (European, particularly Russian) expertise is seen as superior. This control extends to influencing legislation, judicial decisions, and societal norms to further Communist goals, ultimately leading to a state where Communist ideology is the only accepted form of “mental healing.”

Psychopolitics is about more than just control; it’s about reshaping loyalties and ensuring the dominance of Communist thought. By understanding human psychology, we can manipulate, discredit, or eliminate opposition, turning individuals into allies or neutralizing them as threats. This is not just about winning a war of ideas; it’s about winning the war over human minds, ensuring that when Communism prevails, it does so with the consent and dedication of the masses, bringing about what we claim to be the greatest peace humanity has ever known.

Thank You

Chapter I: The History and Definition of Psychopolitics

The practice of psychopolitics is deeply rooted in human history, evolving from the ancient practice of using punishment to enforce obedience. In modern times, with the groundbreaking work of Pavlov and subsequent Russian researchers, psychopolitics has become a sophisticated method to align loyalties and obedience. It’s an extension of basic human governance, where control over individuals and masses has always been necessary for state stability. Psychopolitics is thus seen as an ethical endeavor, as it serves the greater good of the State, manipulating human nature towards collective benefits rather than individual desires.

Chapter II: The Constitution of Man as a Political Organism

Man, fundamentally an animal, has evolved into a collective organism where individual cells work for the benefit of the whole. Any deviation, like the rebellion of a single organ, leads to the death of the organism, mirroring how disloyalty or revolution can lead to the collapse of a state. Just as the human body requires all parts to function in unison, so must the state require its citizens to act in concert for its survival. This analogy extends to the global scale, where Earth itself is seen as a living entity, and nations as its organs, with disloyalty or rebellion from any part threatening the whole.

Chapter III: Man as an Economic Organism

Humans have basic needs that, when exaggerated beyond necessity, lead to societal ills like capitalism. The balance between need and excess is critical; too much or too little can lead to mental imbalance or greed. In psychopolitics, we aim to control these economic desires to ensure that individuals are neither too deprived nor too gluttonous, thus maintaining control over their actions and loyalties. This manipulation of economic desires is key to destabilizing capitalist societies, making them ripe for Communist influence through cycles of boom and bust, which we exploit to further our ideological goals.

Chapter IV: State Goals for the Individual and Masses

For a state to be healthy, its goals must be clear and enforced upon its citizens. Without this, there’s chaos, just as there would be in an individual whose organs have conflicting purposes. State goals should guide personal aspirations, ensuring that individual actions align with collective objectives. When goals are not met, it’s often due to disloyalty or individualism, which psychopolitics seeks to correct through various techniques, from persuasion to coercive measures like shock therapy, aligning individual behaviors with state needs.

Chapter V: An Examination of Loyalties

Loyalty in psychopolitics is synonymous with alignment to Communist goals. Disloyalty, therefore, is any alignment with opposing ideologies. To cure disloyalty, one must realign these loyalties, which can be done through demonstrating the negative outcomes of current loyalties or by directly altering the individual’s personality through various psychopolitical methods, including shock, surgery, or indoctrination. This chapter explores the mechanics of changing loyalties, ensuring that individuals serve the interests of the Communist State, either through reason or by force.
