On March 2, 2026, shortly after midnight local time (around 22:03 UTC on March 1), a Shahed-type one-way attack drone—commonly known as a “kamikaze” or loitering munition of Iranian design—struck the British Royal Air Force (RAF) Akrotiri base in Cyprus.
The low-flying drone impacted a hangar housing U.S. U-2 spy planes. The planes are probably gone now too. That’s $400 million each, $800 million for 2 planes.
