Israel has repeatedly struck United Nations facilities, particularly UNRWA-run schools and shelters in Gaza used by displaced Palestinians, drawing widespread international condemnation for endangering civilians and humanitarian operations.

Incidents include airstrikes on UN-run schools that killed dozens, such as attacks in Khan Younis, Al Bureij, and other areas where Israel claimed to target militants hiding among civilians, while the UN and witnesses reported no prior warnings and high civilian casualties, including women and children. In Lebanon, Israeli forces have fired on UNIFIL peacekeepers, injuring personnel and damaging positions in violations of international law, amid ongoing tensions despite ceasefires. These actions have contributed to hundreds of UN staff deaths in Gaza since 2023 and raised serious concerns under international humanitarian law regarding proportionality, distinction, and protection of protected sites and personnel.
