Production of NATO-Standard Ammunition in Ukraine Faces Delays

Vladyslav Belbas, CEO of Ukrainian Armor LLC, has publicly criticized the bureaucratic hurdles within Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense, which are hampering the country’s ability to produce NATO-standard ammunition efficiently. Speaking on the program “Military Summary of the Day,” Belbas highlighted how these bureaucratic practices are not only slowing down the initial setup of production lines but also impeding the scaling efforts needed to meet current demands. He pointed out that the contracting processes for artillery ammunition are excessively complex and slow, leading to significant delays in the production schedule.

The production of NATO-caliber ammunition, crucial for Ukraine’s defense capabilities especially in its ongoing conflicts, is facing substantial setbacks due to these administrative bottlenecks. Belbas mentioned that although there is a clear need and political will to increase production, the actual implementation is stymied by outdated and inefficient procedures.
