MSNBC Guest Democrat Psychiatrist from Yale Advises Cutting Off Trump Voters in Family at Holiday Times

A Yale psychiatrist, Dr. Amanda Calhoun, appeared on MSNBC and advised viewers to avoid family members who voted for President Donald Trump.

Is this unity or division? Especially for a democratic party that spoke of ‘unity’ for 4 years from 2020 to 2024, when calling Donald Trump Hitler, now it seems its all about division with MSNBC. That a clever argument, but then why didnt President Donald Trump do ‘Hitler things’ when he was President in 2016-2020?

Americans argue that such advice could lead to further family rifts, promoting division over unity. Critics worry about the long-term effects on family relationships and the potential for increased isolation or regret.

However, the advice does underline the importance of self-care and recognizing when environments might be harmful. Instead of complete avoidance, alternatives include fostering open communication with respect, focusing on common ground like shared family traditions or values, and ensuring there are mechanisms for personal space during gatherings. The essence of the issue lies in balancing personal well-being with the desire to maintain family connections, suggesting that while political beliefs are significant, they shouldn’t necessarily sever the ties that bind us. As we approach the holidays, it’s crucial to reflect on how we can manage these dynamics in a way that respects both our mental health and our family bonds, aiming for understanding and peace even amidst political discord.
