In the ongoing U.S.-Iran conflict, President Donald Trump initially framed “1 day bombings”, then 1 day bombings, then 3 day then 5 day, then 7 day, then 30, then 100+ days. And now, Trump renamed the Iran war to “military operations” with ambitious talk of regime change in Tehran, declaring that strikes had already toppled key Iranian leaders and paved the way for a more “reasonable” government while insisting no nuclear weapons would remain.

Iranian officials, including Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, seized on the moment to mock the apparent pivot, posting on X that the campaign had “downgraded from ‘regime change’ to ‘Hey! The episode highlights the risks of prolonged aerial operations and the challenges of translating battlefield claims into decisive political outcomes.
