Did Jeffrey Epstein Father a Secret Child?

Convicted sex offender and financier Jeffrey Epstein may have had a secret child, according to an email exchange included in the latest batch of documents released by the U.S. Department of Justice.

The email, dated September 21, 2011—several years after Epstein’s 2008 conviction for procuring a minor for prostitution—was reportedly sent by Sarah Ferguson, the former Duchess of York and ex-wife of Prince Andrew. In the message, sent via BlackBerry Messenger (BBM), Ferguson wrote:

“Don’t know if you’re still on this bbm but have heard from The Duke that you have had a baby boy. Even though you never kept in touch, I still am here with love, friendship, and congratulations on your baby boy.”

“The Duke” is understood to refer to Prince Andrew, her former husband. In a follow-up message, Ferguson reportedly added that Epstein had “disappeared” and was unaware he was about to become a father, though the context remains unclear.

This revelation surfaced in a massive document dump by the DoJ, which included over three million items such as emails, photos, videos, and other files—many heavily redacted to protect victim identities, medical information, details of child abuse, and elements of ongoing investigations. In released images, faces of women (except Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s convicted accomplice) are blurred, while no men’s faces appear concealed.

Speculation has linked the potential child to Epstein’s last known girlfriend, Belarusian surgeon Karyna Shuliak. According to reports, Epstein signed a will on August 8, 2019—just two days before his death in a Manhattan jail cell—intending to leave Shuliak significant assets, including his private island, $50 million, and his Upper East Side townhouse in New York City.

No official confirmation exists of the child’s existence, name, birth date, current whereabouts, or Epstein’s paternity. The email appears to be based on hearsay from Prince Andrew, and no direct court testimony or DNA evidence has been publicly tied to this claim in the released files.

The DoJ has indicated it remains open to pursuing charges against additional Epstein associates, though Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche noted in recent comments that disturbing content (such as photos) alone does not necessarily support prosecutions. Victims continue to seek restitution.

This detail adds to the ongoing scrutiny of Epstein’s network, which has included high-profile figures like Prince Andrew (who faced embarrassment over related photos and invitations) and others mentioned in the files. However, the suggestion of a secret child remains unproven and speculative pending further verification.
