The attempted assassination of Donald Trump occurred on July 13, 2024, at approximately 6:11 p.m. EDT during an open-air campaign rally at the Butler Farm Show Grounds, near Butler, Pennsylvania (in Connoquenessing Township/Meridian area).
The shooter, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, fired eight rounds from an AR-15โstyle rifle from the roof of a nearby building roughly 130-150 yards away, grazing Trump’s upper right ear, killing one rally attendee (Corey Comperatore), and critically injuring two others before being fatally shot by a Secret Service counter-sniper.
