Bad Bunny’s recent Super Bowl 60 halftime performance drew sharp criticism from some viewers who found it bad and boring, largely because the entire set was delivered in Spanish with no English, subtitles, lyrics or translations, leaving many in the massive mainstream audience unable to understand the words or connect with the energy. For Spanish speakers, about 45 million (roughly 14% of that same group, making the U.S. the second-largest Spanish-speaking population globally after Mexico).
This linguistic divide highlights why an all-Spanish performance polarized audiences in a country where English overwhelmingly dominates everyday communication.
TP USA Half Time Show
Turning Point USA (TPUSA) staged its “All-American Halftime Show” as a patriotic counter-programming alternative during the Super Bowl LX halftime on February 8, 2026, streaming live on platforms like YouTube, X, Rumble, and TBN while Bad Bunny performed the official NFL show.
Headlined by Kid Rock and featuring country artists Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice, and Gabby Barrett, the roughly 30-minute event celebrated faith, family, freedom, and American culture with performances emphasizing conservative values, and included a heartfelt tribute to TPUSA’s late founder Charlie Kirk (who was assassinated in 2025), with dedications like “This one’s for you, Charlie” and on-screen memorials.
Promoted as family-friendly entertainment free of ” woke agendas,” it drew significant online attention from conservative audiences, peaking at around 6.1 million concurrent viewers on YouTube and amassing nearly 19 million total views.
TPUSA hailed it as a “massive success” and a cultural statement against the Spanish-language, “woke” official halftime.
Super Bowl 60 halftime showed a vibrant celebration of Puerto Rican and Latino culture, featuring Bad Bunny dancing with Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin, it drew more than 135 million viewers.
So far, it has been the most-watched halftime performance in Super Bowl history and edging out the previous record set by Kendrick Lamar’s 133.5 million in 2025.
In it’s first year, the competing Turning Point USA “All-American Halftime Show” featuring country artists such as Kid Rock, Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice, and Gabby Barrett peaked at 6.1 million concurrent viewers on its YouTube livestream.
