Leftist Backlash and Accusations of Racism
The video prompted an intense meltdown among left-leaning users and commentators on social media, who condemned it as overtly racist. Tweets from various accounts, including Republicans Against Trump and individual users, highlighted the depiction of the Obamas as monkeys, calling it disgusting and unfit for a president. Critics argued it ended any debate about Trump’s alleged racism, with some demanding condemnation from Republicans and invoking hashtags like #BLM. White House Defends the Post
In response to the uproar, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told The Daily Mail that the clip was merely an internet meme portraying Trump as the “King of the Jungle” and Democrats as characters from The Lion King.
