Day 35: Iran Shoots Down F-35 “Stealth” Fighter Jet With Evidence: 1 Pilot Captured
Reports indicate that on April 3, 2026, a U.S. F-15E Strike Eagle fighter jet was shot down over southern Iran amid escalating military operations in the region.
Iranian state media quickly claimed responsibility, releasing images and videos purporting to show wreckage, including debris consistent with an F-15 aircraft. While Iranian sources initially described the downed plane as an advanced F-35 stealth fighter, U.S. officials and independent analysis of the released imagery pointed to the two-seat F-15E Strike Eagle.
