EU and French President Macron Condemn Israel Over Palm Sunday Ban on Christians
Emmanuel Macron:
“I offer my full support to the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem and to the Christians of the Holy Land, who are prevented from celebrating Palm Sunday Mass at the Holy Sepulchre. I condemn this decision by the Israeli police, which adds to the alarming proliferation of violations of the status quo of Jerusalem’s Holy Sites.”
After the Vatican, the European Union has also strongly condemned the prevention of the Palm Sunday Mass at the Holy Sepulchre by Israeli authorities, denouncing it as “a violation of religious freedom.” This unified stance from major international actors highlights growing concern over restrictions imposed on Christian worship in Jerusalem during one of the most important days in the liturgical calendar.
